Microsoft is taking its iconic Windows Notepad app to the next level by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The tech giant is reportedly testing an AI bot powered by GPT-4, OpenAI’s advanced language generation system, for Notepad. This move comes as part of Microsoft’s efforts to enhance its suite of AI-powered tools and features embedded within Windows 11.
The AI-assist bot for Notepad, which is currently dubbed as Cowriter, will leverage ChatGPT’s text-generation capabilities. Users will be able to directly enlist the power of ChatGPT within the Notepad app for a more seamless and efficient text editing experience. However, there may be certain usage limits in place, as indicated by the reference to CreditLimitDialog. This suggests that there may be a credit-based system with a usage quota for the AI feature.
Windows enthusiasts have identified several references within the app package of Notepad that hint at the upcoming AI bot.
