Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nokia to embark on collaborative research focused on advancing 5G technologies and next-generation innovations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.
Under this partnership, experts from Nokia will play an integral role at VIT, serving on the institution’s Board of Studies, mentoring both students and faculty members, and actively engaging across various departments closely aligned with the project objectives and skill requirements identified by Nokia.
The collaboration between VIT and Nokia will center around key areas such as exploring new frontiers in 5G, enhancing communication through AI, delving into Digital Twin technologies, radio-based sensing applications, the integration of connected aerial vehicles, eHealth solutions, advancements in Cloud Technologies and automation, as well as establishing Zero-touch mobile networks.
Through this MoU, VIT and Nokia will facilitate the exchange of valuable research insights, sharing best practices through corporate and academic training initiatives grounded in the expertise of both partners. Nokia will also provide students at VIT with immersive hands-on learning experiences, in addition to jointly organizing short-term continuing education programs.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Dr. T. Jayabarathi, VIT Registrar, and Ms. Ponni, Director (R&D) and Nokia Bangalore University Collaboration Lead.
