Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh embarked on an official visit to South Korea, accompanied by his wife, Le Thi Bich Tran, and a delegation of Vietnamese officials. The visit marks a significant milestone as the first official visit by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader to South Korea since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022.
Upon their arrival at Seongnam Air Base, the Vietnamese delegation was warmly welcomed by Minister of SMEs and startups Oh Young-joo, South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Yong-sam, and other dignitaries from both nations. An official welcome ceremony, including a review of the honor guard, was held at the airport to kick off the visit.
During his time in South Korea, Prime Minister Chinh is scheduled to participate in more than 30 activities, focusing on a wide range of topics such as business cooperation, labor relations, tourism promotion, and dialogues with economic organizations and scientists. The visit will also include engagements with South Korean leaders, a speech at Seoul National University, and a visit to Samsung’s semiconductor factory.
Vietnam and South Korea have maintained strong diplomatic ties since 1992, with a deepening economic partnership that has seen South Korea become the largest investor in Vietnam. The visit by Prime Minister Chinh reaffirms the commitment of both countries to further enhancing their bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
With a significant focus on economic matters, Prime Minister Chinh’s trip to South Korea is expected to strengthen the existing ties between the two nations and explore new avenues for collaboration in the future.
