Goal.com posed a challenge to their artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, ChatGPT: to put together the ultimate all-time best XI for the United States men’s national soccer team. After careful deliberation and calculation, ChatGPT came up with the lineup, and the results are nothing short of phenomenal. From Alexi Lalas to Claudio Reyna, the best XI includes some of the greatest players to ever take the pitch for the Stars and Stripes. Unfortunately for Christian Pulisic, he failed to make the cut.
The featured 11 includes the goalkeeper Tim Howard, defenders Alexi Lalas, Carlos Bocanegra, Eddie Pope and Tony Slevin, midfielders John O’Brien, Claudio Reyna, Kyle Beckerman and Eddie Lewis, and forwards Clint Dempsey and Brian McBride. ChatGPT also chose Bruce Arena as the manager to take charge of this exceptional squad.
When asked about why Jozy Altidore and Christian Pulisic were both left out, ChatGPT cited that even though both players have been performing exceptionally well in the past, they do not measure up to the players included in the team regarding quality and experience.
ChatGPT has certainly put the debate to rest after coming up with a fantastic lineup that is sure to draw a lot of attention from everyone. Fans of the United States National Team can certainly agree on look at this lineup, as it is strong, experienced and full of iconic names in American soccer history. The only thing left to do now is to start the discussion and debate on who makes your all time XI for the USMNT.
