Using GPT-4 for Smarter Cybersecurity Risk Decisions by Leaders

Date:

SecurityScorecard, founded in 2013, is a global ratings company providing continuous cybersecurity ratings of more than 12 million companies to help organizations make their networks secure. To make risk management decisions easier, the company has recently leveraged Open AI’s ChatGPT-4 system to develop a new ratings platform. By integrating it with GPT-4, the language model technology, the platform has added a natural language global search to its offering.

This AI-powered search aims to help security leaders quickly discover answers to questions about risks to their organizations’ business ecosystems while offering details about their vendors’ capabilities. GPT-4-integrated search feature enables customers to rapidly gain the necessary information needed to determine risk management decisions. To illustrate, security leaders can ask open-ended questions such as “find my 10 lowest-rated vendors” or “show me which of my critical vendors were breached in the past year”.

Senior Product Marketing Manager Gian Calvesbert commented about GTP-4 integration for the company, wherein he stressed that the data has been solely trained on the firm’s own data. He pointed out that speed and efficiency are critical to optimize security and compliance, and that the integration of the AI technology aims to reduce the manual work associated with analyzing data from monitored organizations.

Nevertheless, upon the launch of the ChatGPT chatbot at the end of 2022, a number of security concerns such as its potential ability to create malware and sophisticated phishing campaigns have been raised. Although, experts agree that the AI tools can significantly increase the capabilities of security teams – by reducing the workload on cyber professionals and rapidly identifying threats.
