ChatGPT is an OpenAI development that has been gaining traction in the AI community. It allows users to ask questions, receive responses, and engage in conversations with the AI. It’s amazing how the AI can continuously develop its knowledge and answer the questions it is given. While ChatGPT can do a lot, it cannot yet interact with its users via voice, requiring either a browser extension or third-party service for phone conversations.
Call Annie, formerly known as Sam, is an alternate service that offers ChatGPT users the ability to communicate with voice over the phone. The service uses ChatGPT’s AI, but runs its own code to interact with its users. When users call the number, 640-225-5726, they are welcomed to a greeting from the ChatGPT-based bot, Samantha. The bot is capable of responding to questions with nearly the same accuracy as ChatGPT, with the added benefit of engaging the user in conversation with their voice. For example, one might use Samantha to run through a mock interview before heading into their real interview.
Along with voice conversations, Call Annie also offers options to communicate through web and app-based conversations. The web-based interface, “callsam.ai,” shows service terms and different available options. For iPhone users, Call Annie offers a live video call app to add a visual element to conversations. While the app use needs to be further researched for potential privacy issues, it does provide users with a new way of interacting with ChatGPT.
Developed by a third party developer, Call Annie’s Samantha provides users with a new way of communicating with ChatGPT-based AI. While Samantha does not have the same Hollywood level AI of OpenAI, it’s still impressive how accurate she responds to questions. Those utilizing Samantha for job interviews have noted her helpfulness, yet stern reprimand for inappropriate humor. With the ability to communicate through voice and video, Call Annie’s Sam provides users with a classic and modern means of conversing with AI-based software.
