US Federal Agencies Impacted by MOVEit Breach as Hackers Expand Victim List

Multiple federal agencies in the US have been targeted by cyberattacks that exploited a security vulnerability in MOVEit Transfer, an enterprise file transfer tool developed by Progress Software. The attacks have been attributed to Russian linked ransomware gang Clop. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency confirmed that several federal agencies were subject to intrusions, but did not say how many were affected or which agencies were involved. However, the Department of Energy confirmed that two of its entities were among the organizations breached. As new victims continue to come to light, Progress Software has rushed to patch a new vulnerability impacting MOVEit Transfer.
