US Adults Try Generative AI Tool: Nearly 40% Usage

Date:

The growing popularity of generative AI tools has been highlighted in a recent survey conducted by Onepulse on behalf of TechRadar Pro. The survey found that almost 40% of American adult web users have tried at least one of the various available AI services. Services such as ChatGPT, Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Bing Chat, Night Cafe, and Bard have all proven to be popular choices.

The biggest name in generative AI, OpenAI, experienced a meteoric rise in traffic since it made its general availability in November 2022. According to data from Similarweb, the website jumped from 51st place in January to 27th in February and 18th in March 2023, making it one of the most popular sites on the internet today. OpenAI registered over 1.6 billion visits last month, bolstered by a five-minute average visit time and an impressive pages per visit rate of nearly seven.

Despite being in the early stages of this AI revolution, nearly 5% of the survey respondents are already daily users of one or more AI tools; the figure jumps to 15% if one takes into account those who use the technology several times per week.

These advancements have caused a shift in mindset amongst businesses too, as many are now looking to see if automated chatbots and services could potentially replace existing roles and reduce costs.

Interestingly, when asked whether generative AI could replace one’s job soon, a slim majority answered in the negative. Yet, 5.5% of users apparently weren’t so sure — a reminder of how uncertain the future can be.

Onepulse’s survey took into account 890 US and UK adult web users, with 500 of those coming from the US.

The company Onepulse offers insights through live surveys. Their data gives a glimpse into consumer opinions, giving businesses the opportunity to make decisions based on the latest trends. For example, the results of its TechRadar Pro survey have brought to light the growing trend of generative AI tools.

The survey was carried out by Aishray Suresh, the spokesperson at Onepulse. He believes in the potential applications of AI, citing it as an opportunity for businesses to leverage technology in order to become more efficient and cost-effective. He is excited to see how these services will continue to evolve, revolutionize the way businesses operate and potentially replace certain roles over the coming years.
