Urtopia, a prominent e-bike manufacturer, has unveiled its latest innovation at CES 2024 – an AI-powered e-bike that offers always-connected features and integration with a smart ring. With a focus on AI integration, Urtopia aims to enhance the overall biking experience by providing interactive coaching and collecting fitness data.
During my visit to CES, I had the opportunity to meet with Owen Zhang, CEO of Urtopia, who shared insights into the advanced technology features incorporated into the e-bike’s Smartbar. Zhang likened these features to the AI system Jarvis from Marvel’s Iron Man suits. The Smartbar utilizes ChatGPT through LTE and Bluetooth connections to enable direct interactions between the rider and the bike. Notably, a smartphone is not required to access the ChatGPT integration.
The latest Urtopia e-bikes function as a mobile coach, intelligent companion, and voice-activated assistant. Riders can activate voice commands to specify their desired riding destination and distance. Utilizing ChatGPT and the bike’s connectivity, the e-bike will generate the optimal route that meets the rider’s needs. Visual and spoken commands will guide the rider throughout the journey.
To further enhance the coaching experience, Urtopia is developing a smart ring that collects essential health data, including sleep stages. This data is then synced with the biking data to customize the riding experience according to the rider’s current fitness condition. For instance, if the smart ring indicates that the rider has had sufficient sleep and is in peak condition, the electric motor will provide less assistance. Conversely, if the rider has experienced inadequate sleep or has been pushing their fitness limits, the bike will provide increased assistance to balance the workload and support the rider in achieving their goals.
The smart ring will also serve as a security key for the bike. As the rider approaches the bike, the ring will automatically unlock it, preparing it for use. Conversely, when the rider leaves the bike unattended, the ring will shut it down and activate the security features.
All the data collected from the e-bike and smart ring will sync with the Urtopia smartphone application, where riders can access their health data, review completed bike rides, and more. Urtopia is even offering a year of eSIM service, which costs $39 after the initial free year, included with the purchase of the bike.
Pre-orders for the Urtopia Carbon 1 Pro are now available at a discounted price of $2,499, with shipping scheduled to commence in March. Meanwhile, the Urtopia Fusion GT and Urtopia Smart Ring are expected to be available for purchase in July 2024.
With its AI-powered e-bike and integrated smart ring, Urtopia is revolutionizing the biking experience. By offering personalized coaching, always-connected features, and comprehensive fitness data collection, Urtopia is at the forefront of the e-bike industry.
