Urtopia, a leading electric bicycle manufacturer, has recently unveiled an innovative e-bike equipped with ChatGPT integration. This groundbreaking technology was showcased at Eurobike 2023, and Urtopia claims that it is the world’s first electric bike to feature a ChatGPT voice assistant.
Although the e-bike presented at the event was a demonstration model, Urtopia has confirmed that it is actively working on developing a version for future commercial release. In a recent YouTube video shared by the brand, a user can be seen pressing a button on the left handlebar to activate the ChatGPT voice assistant. The assistant answers questions about the benefits of cycling, highlighting the advantages of this eco-friendly mode of transportation.
A second video demonstrates the capabilities of the Urtopia ChatGPT e-bike as the rider requests a recommended sightseeing tour of Los Angeles. The voice assistant provides a detailed route and then asks if the user wants to begin navigation. In addition to the integration of ChatGPT, the Urtopia e-bike also boasts other impressive features such as GPS navigation, which can be utilized to track the bike in case of theft, as well as riding safety tools and a data log to monitor and analyze progress. Furthermore, riders can connect their Urtopia electric bicycle to platforms like Apple Health or Strava to gain additional insights and share their performance with friends.
Aside from the ChatGPT integration, Urtopia also unveiled the new Fusion e-bike at Eurobike 2023. This model is a collaborative effort with renowned designer Hartmut Esslinger, the founder of Frog Design, who previously worked on Apple’s Snow White design concept. The Fusion e-bike weighs less than 20 kg (~44 lbs) due to its full carbon fiber frame. While it features the advanced Urtopia smart system, it currently does not include the voice interaction powered by integrated ChatGPT. Information regarding the release timeline and pricing of the e-bike with ChatGPT integration is yet to be disclosed.
