Unveiling the Creepy ChatGPT Robot EVE: How It Looks and What Jobs It Can Take On

Date:

A cutting-edge robotics and AI-innovation company, called OpenAI, alongside a Norwegian engineering and robotics firm named 1X, is working on robotic prototypes powered by artificial intelligence systems. 1X is developing androids capable of human-like movements and actions, enabling manipulation of physical information. To support their productions, OpenAI invested $23.5 million in 1X. They have developed a research bot named EVE that has since been repurposed as a security droid. Photos of their potential humanoid forms have users pondering if they will be the new face of artificial intelligence.

EVE possesses impressive physical capabilities, demonstrated in a video posted of her skillfully packing a box and gently opening a window. In order to facilitate her dexterous design, OpenAI and 1X outfitted EVE with a VR controller and AI, as well as a bank of components that display navigation and real-time updates. Her precision of motion leaves her a potential candidate for integrating into the labor force for tasks such as packing and shipping, already being done at locations such as Amazon warehouses.

In addition to EVE, the group has produced NEO, a robotic mannequin that allows for deeper exploration of AI feedback in a humanoid form. Outside of the project, SpaceX boss Elon Musk conceived of deploying countless competing personal servant robots, known as Tesla Bot or Optimus. These bots would be used for mundane tasks like making dinner, mowing the lawn, as well as for elderly care and even for robots as ‘buddy’ or ‘catgirl’ sex partners.

Generative AI has great potential to revolutionize the robotics industry by making them less robotic. OpenAI’s funding will support production of these robots, allowing researchers to explore and implement AI systems in a humanoid form. A related project, Ameca, is a humanoid language bot using the same technology as ChatGPT and has demonstrated the ability to respond to complex commands with human-like mannerisms in multiple languages. These amazing developments could lead to unprecedented feats of natural interactions between humans and robots.
