Unlocking the Secrets of Long COVID with Palantir’s Assistance

Date:

Technology giant Palantir has launched a groundbreaking initiative to decipher the mysterious complexities of long Covid. Using its unrivaled data analysis capabilities, Palantir is helping researchers and clinicians better understand the persisting symptoms of this condition, which linger for some patients up to twelve weeks after their initial infection.

At least 65 million people globally are suffering from long Covid, which presents itself in different ways for different patients. Its cause, effect, and treatments all remain somewhat unknown, making it difficult for researchers to make any advances – until now. Realizing that this was also a data problem as well, Palantir has collaborated with the U.S National Institutes of Health (NIH) to create the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) – the largest collection of Covid-19 health records in the world.

The N3C is essentially a data enclave, where those diagnosed with Covid-19 can enter their information, in a structured format, to be collated and studied. This initiative, lead by Indra Joshi, director of health, research, and artificial intelligence at Palantir, enables clinicians and researchers to identify patterns and diagnoses, across a larger pool of patient data than ever before.

Thanks to the efforts of Palantir, N3C manages to yield some valuable insights into long Covid. It has helped researchers to better understand and define its symptoms, as well as discover disparities in diagnoses between white and black, Hispanic, or minority populations.

Indra Joshi’s determination and commitment to the N3C project have resulted in an incredible breakthrough – put simply, that data analysis is capable of going a step further towards understanding and learning from long Covid. Now, with the help of Palantir’s cutting edge data technology, medical professionals and researchers alike have an even greater capacity to work towards healing and helping those suffering from this debilitating and often disabling condition.
