UNICCON Group, a leading technology company in Nigeria, has introduced two revolutionary apps aimed at driving the digital education revolution in the country. The Omeife AI and Omeife Digital Literacy Apps, developed by UNICCON Group, are derived from Africa’s first humanoid robot, Omeife, which was launched in December 2022. These apps were unveiled by the director general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the unveiling ceremony, Mallam Inuwa emphasized the importance of digital literacy in achieving the targeted 95 percent digital literacy rate in Nigeria. The Omeife apps will play a crucial role in providing access to digital literacy and education for Nigerians, Africans, and people around the world. The apps offer various features, including translation services in multiple languages such as English, Pidgin English, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, French, Swahili, and Arabic. Additionally, they provide subtitling, knowledge assistance, text summarization, and video translation.
Mallam Inuwa commended UNICCON Group for their significant achievements since the launch of the humanoid robot. He expressed his satisfaction with the advanced technologies employed by the company and assured them of the government’s support for their research efforts. Dr. Chuks Ekwueme, the chairman of UNICCON Group, extended his gratitude to NITDA, academia, industry partners, policymakers, and the community for their support in promoting digital literacy. He specifically thanked Mallam Inuwa for being a valuable partner in progress.
