Ukrainian Women Use AI-Generated Images to Extract Military Secrets from Russian Soldiers
According to a recent report by The Times, Ukrainian women have been employing clever tactics to obtain crucial military information from Russian soldiers. Using dating profiles with artificially generated images, these women have successfully tricked soldiers into divulging classified details about the Russian army.
One woman, who chose to be identified as Angelina, revealed that she has been using online dating apps to specifically target Russian soldiers operating in occupied areas of Ukraine ever since Russia’s invasion began. By adopting a pseudonym and using AI-generated profile pictures, Angelina entices men who post images of themselves in military uniforms. The soldiers, unaware of the deception, freely share information about the state of the Russian army, which Angelina then passes on to the Ukrainian military.
Angelina expressed her particular interest in gathering information about troop numbers, military equipment, the success of attacks, as well as any logistical or supply-related issues. She even managed to obtain photos of a military passport and videos of soldiers driving, which helped her track their locations.
A colleague of Angelina, who goes by the name Masha, revealed that it is best to avoid soldiers who exhibit excessive sexual desire, as they tend to focus solely on that aspect rather than discussing anything of substance.
Both women also admitted to joking about the soldiers, referring to them as orcs, a derogatory term commonly used by Ukrainians to describe Russians during the ongoing conflict. Angelina shared an anecdote about engaging with a soldier named Maxim Korneev, who she described as a simple guy with a round face. She found his messages to be full of mistakes, which surprised her considering he didn’t appear to be a child. Korneev was responsible for training and often traveled to the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics for that purpose. During their conversations, he revealed that army benefits had decreased rather than increased, as claimed by Putin.
Screenshots shared with The Times also revealed that another soldier even proposed to Angelina, attempting to persuade her by suggesting that she could obtain his compensation if he intentionally got wounded in the war.
Despite having lost her brother in the conflict last year, Angelina admitted to feeling no sympathy for the soldiers. She expressed a hope that their actions would eventually lead to their downfall.
It is worth noting that this method of aiding the war effort is not unusual in Ukraine. In a previous report by Insider, it was revealed that a Ukrainian group inspired by OnlyFans had begun selling explicit photos of themselves as a means to fundraise for the country’s armed forces.
The use of AI-generated images to deceive Russian soldiers and extract confidential military information highlights the resourcefulness and determination of Ukrainian women in their fight against Russian aggression. As the conflict continues, it remains to be seen how these tactics will evolve, and what impact they will have on the ongoing hostilities.
