In a move aimed at boosting efficiency and ensuring top-notch data security, the Ukrainian government has been granted free access to Google Workspace for another year. Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science, and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the news on his Telegram channel.
Through extending the validity of 50,000 Workspace licenses, government employees will have continued access to corporate email, cloud storage, and other Google Workspace services without any cost. This initiative is expected to enhance their productivity while safeguarding their data.
During a meeting with Google’s top management, the development of Ukrainian YouTube was also discussed, with a focus on the need to increase the volume of Ukrainian content. Additionally, the integration of Google’s AI technology into the Ministry of Digital Transformation’s products, particularly the electronic educational service called Mriia, was explored as a possibility.
Fedorov extended his gratitude to Google’s top managers, Patrick Warnking, Annette Kroeber-Riel, and Marta Poslad, for their support and visit to Kyiv. He highlighted Google’s previous contributions to Ukraine, including a $2 million grant to restart the Diia.Osvita platform, the donation of 50,000 Chromebooks as part of the Laptop for Every Teacher project, and the establishment of the Ukraine Support Fund with a budget of $5 million to support Ukrainian startups.
By providing free access to Google Workspace services, Google is not only empowering the Ukrainian government but also contributing to the country’s digital transformation. This collaboration is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing efficiency, protecting data, and fostering innovation in Ukraine.
As the government continues to explore opportunities to leverage Google’s technologies, it remains committed to strengthening its digital infrastructure and providing its citizens with access to cutting-edge tools and services. With Google’s support, Ukraine is set to make significant strides in the digital realm, ensuring a brighter future for its people.
