The UC San Diego Alumni Association is proud to announce the introduction of a new leadership board, headed by incoming board president Melody Gonzales ’02. The Alumni Board of Directors, established in 1974, consists of 28 passionate alumni volunteers, spanning five decades of graduating classes and diverse fields.
Melody Gonzales brings a wealth of experience as an Executive Director in the Biden-Harris Administration, focusing on advancing equity, educational excellence, and economic opportunity for Hispanics. With her leadership, alongside the newly appointed executive officers and directors, the board aims to drive progress and make a significant impact within the UC San Diego community.
The Alumni Board is eager to engage with Triton alumni in shaping the upcoming Triton Alumni and Welcome Center, set to open in 2026. This campus hub will be a focal point for Tritons to connect, inspire, and leave a lasting legacy. Additionally, the board is excited to support the university’s endeavors towards achieving Hispanic Serving Institution designation, showcasing the audacious Triton spirit.
Joining Melody Gonzales on the board are distinguished alumni including Samantha Begovich ’91, Coleen Clementson ’88, Michael Lumpkin ’86, Jocelyn Portales ’14, Noorjit Sidhu ’14, Teresa Stivers ’90, Larry Stullich ’96, MS ’00, and Brookie Best ’94, MAS ’07, each bringing their unique expertise to propel the UC San Diego story forward.
The Alumni Board looks ahead to supporting Division I scholar-athletes, fostering a culture of philanthropy, and encouraging alumni to actively participate in shaping the university’s future. This dynamic team is poised to make a lasting impact and strengthen the bond within the Triton community, embodying the spirit of UC San Diego’s trailblazing legacy.
