UAE’s Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict

Date:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues its unwavering support for Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The UAE’s Strategic Communication Department recently highlighted the nation’s significant humanitarian efforts in providing aid to the beleaguered region, which has been under attack.

A total of 40,000 tonnes of essential supplies have been sent to Gaza via aid ships, trucks, and flights, including airdrops. The UAE, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other international partners, has delivered 2,176 tonnes of food supplies and distributed an additional 300 tonnes in northern Gaza through the Maritime Corridor initiative.

Moreover, the UAE has established six desalination plants, delivering 1.2 million gallons of water daily to benefit over 600,000 individuals in Gaza. The country has also deployed automatic bakeries to serve 72,000 people daily, in addition to supporting existing bakeries to meet the needs of 17,140 individuals.

In terms of healthcare, the UAE has set up two hospitals—a 200-bed field hospital and a 100-bed floating hospital—to provide medical assistance to those in need. Furthermore, the Comprehensive National System for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management (R100) has been implemented to aid 1,000 cancer patients and 1,000 sick children from Gaza.

The UAE’s commitment to supporting Gaza is reflected in its financial contributions as well. The nation has allocated funds to various organizations such as UNRWA, the Amalthea Fund, the World Health Organisation, and the World Food Programme to support relief efforts in the region.

Additionally, the UAE has initiated campaigns like ‘Tarahum for Gaza’ and ‘Birds of Goodness’, collecting relief packages and conducting airdrops to deliver aid to Gaza. The country has also introduced Starlink satellite broadband for urgent medical consultations and established an initiative to evacuate sick and severely injured Palestinians to Abu Dhabi for treatment.
