Two People Killed and Five Injured in Home Theatre Blast at Wedding Ceremony in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham District

Date:

Tragedy struck a small village in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district on Monday as a home theatre gifted to a newly married man exploded, killing two people and injuring five. Hemendra Meravi, the newlywed, and his brother lost their lives, while the others were badly wounded and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Officials suspect that an explosive was strategically placed inside the home theatre, however, the investigation is still underway.

The incident occurred after Meravi and his family had celebrated his wedding function in Chamari village on April 2. The next day, they unwrapped the home theatre that had been presented to them as a gift by an unidentified person. As soon as Meravi connected the music system to an outlet and switched it on, the explosion happened.

Speaking on the occasion, ASP Manisha Thakur said, “We are further looking into the incident. Prima facie, it seems that explosives were placed inside the home theatre.” She added that the condition of the injured was stable but the case would be clear only after a thorough investigation.
