The program, with a budget of €7.5 billion ($8.1 billion), will enable Turkey to access various calls for projects aimed at enhancing digital technologies and skills.
The European Commission, the EU’s executive body, recently signed an association agreement for the Digital Europe Program with Turkey. Once the ratification process is completed, Turkey will have the opportunity to benefit from the program’s budget for the period of 2021-2027.
Under this program, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as public and other organizations, will have the opportunity to apply for grants from the EU. These grants will support projects related to advanced digital technologies like artificial intelligence and promote the development of digital innovation hubs in Turkey.
The EU Commission hopes that Turkey’s participation in the Digital Europe Program will result in closer links to the EU economy and society. It also anticipates increased cooperation in developing technological capabilities between Turkey and the EU.
This partnership comes as a significant opportunity for Turkey to strengthen its digital infrastructure and foster innovation in various sectors. By accessing funding and expertise through the Digital Europe Program, Turkey can enhance its digital skills and technologies, contributing to its overall economic growth and competitiveness.
Furthermore, the program will enable Turkey to collaborate with European partners, exchange knowledge, and enhance its digital transformation initiatives. It is a positive step towards bringing Turkey closer to the forefront of digital advancements and aligning its technological capabilities with those of the EU.
In conclusion, Turkey’s inclusion in the European Union’s Digital Europe Program marks a milestone for the country in terms of its digital development. With a substantial budget allocated, this program will provide opportunities for small businesses, public organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen their technological skills and drive digital innovation in Turkey.
