Top Vulnerabilities of 2023: Apache Superset, Papercut, MOVEit, and ChatGPT

Cybersecurity teams are often overwhelmed with managing vulnerabilities, making it impossible to patch every identified vulnerability. In a recent blog post, Rezilion identified the top vulnerabilities of the first half of 2023 as Apache Superset, Papercut, MOVEit, and ChatGPT. Security teams must prioritize which patches to focus on as more than 20,000 vulnerabilities are reported annually and only a small percentage of these are actually exploited. Rezilion recommends focusing on recent vulnerabilities, with both the PaperCut and ChatGPT vulnerabilities highlighted specifically. Despite the ChatGPT vulnerability having a relatively low CVSS score, it gained attention due to the increasing reliance on AI services across various industries. The Apache Superset vulnerability, caused by the default SECRET_KEY configuration, is also a priority for cybersecurity teams, as it is widely used for data visualization and analytics. Rezilion emphasized the importance of rigorous analysis and community feedback for accurate assessments and mitigations.
