ThoughtSpot Launches New Tool Powered by OpenAI’s Language Model

Date:

ThoughtSpot has just announced that their newly developed tool, Sage, is now available in private preview with wider availability expected later this year, though a concrete date has yet to be available. ThoughtSpot was initially designed as a platform where natural language processing capabilities allowed customers to ask questions using natural language in a search environment similar to Google. The thought process here was to make data easy to access, however, the system still required data literacy, prompting users to convey business questions in a very precise manner to access the right data.

Sage has taken this process further by integrating ThoughtSpot’s existing capabilities with OpenAI’s Language Model (LLM) which is trained on broader language than other existing NLP tools. This makes it easier for users to ask questions in natural language and helps remove the prerequisite data literacy as well. David Menninger from Ventana Research believes that having tools like this available makes analytics much more accessible and helps break down the current 25% usage generally seen in this field.

Analytics platforms that have integrated with Generative AI tools such as OpenAI are becoming popular and ThoughtSpot is among the first to offer this solution. Microsoft and Salesforce have also announced plans to bring AI integrations into their analytics and business intelligence suites.

Sumeet Arora, the Chief Development Officer at ThoughtSpot believes that the new Sage tool with the integration of OpenAI’s LLM will help them realize their original goal of making analytics simpler and more accessible to everyone. As Sage become more widely available over the rest of the year they plan on adding predictive and prescriptive capabilities so that the tool can ask questions as well as answer them.
