Italian hi-fi manufacturer Volumio has introduced a new compact music streaming box called the Volumio Integro. This all-in-one device not only serves as an amplifier, DAC, and headphones amp, but it also incorporates Volumio’s Supersearch tool, powered by ChatGPT, to provide personalized music recommendations from various streaming services.
The Volumio Integro boasts a sleek and retro-modern design, encased in aluminum with burnt orange dials. It features dual-mono class-D amplifiers and supports hi-res audio up to 192kHz 24-bit. Users can connect speakers or wired headphones via the 6.3mm jack. Additionally, the device can be linked to a TV through an HDMI port, enabling access to a user-friendly menu and alternative audio output options.
With Wi-Fi connectivity, the Volumio Integro allows seamless music streaming from popular services such as Tidal or Qobuz. It also supports Bluetooth connections and can be paired with a turntable for vinyl enthusiasts. Controlling the streaming capabilities is done through a web app, which includes the AI Music Player created by Volumio.
The AI Music Player incorporates the Supersearch tool, powered by ChatGPT, to offer enhanced music recommendations. Leveraging the extensive knowledge of AI platforms, the Supersearch tool goes beyond typical suggestions. Instead of responding solely with text-based recommendations, it displays a curated list of song suggestions from the user’s preferred streaming services or personal music library, ready for immediate playback.
Furthermore, there is a new feature called ‘Infinity Playback’ that complements Supersearch. When a playback session reaches its conclusion, Infinity Playback automatically retrieves related music to prevent any interruption of audio. While similar features exist in popular music streaming platforms like Apple Music or Spotify, the Volumio Integro distinguishes itself by seamlessly transitioning to related music without any gaps.
However, the AI-powered features are not available for free. Volumio offers a Premium subscription for its players, which includes access to the Supersearch tool and costs $69.99 / £51.99 annually or $7.49 / £5.99 monthly.
The Volumio Integro is priced around $1,400 / £1,025 / AU$2,499. Currently, there is confirmation pending regarding its availability in the UK and potential release in the US. Nonetheless, hi-fi enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to experience this all-encompassing music streaming device, which elegantly combines modern convenience with timeless hi-fi quality.
