Tata Power and News18 Take Solar to the Forefront and Release Special Film for Earth Day

This Earth Day, Tata Power and News18 have taken the initiative to promote green energy adoption in India with the release of a special film, De Power Ko Green Signal. The film was released on television and digital platforms and features a theme of “Invest in our planet”. Set in Ladakh, the film focuses on solar power as a means of leading to a future of great possibilities. It encourages viewers to switch to more sustainable options, without the fear of ‘switching off’.

Tata Power is a large integrated power company in India and is a major player in the energy transition from traditional power sources to green sources. The short film details the journey of a young boxer, Usha, and how solar power has enabled her to follow her dreams of becoming a great athlete. With access to electricity, she can call on her full potential and concentrate on her boxing dreams, even make it to the global arena.

In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission LiFE, the film advocates sustainable living and the use of green energy. Toward this end, Tata Power has launched an initiative ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ that focuses on making products and services related to green energy easy and affordable. Union Minister of Power R K Singh, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Amitabh Kant (G20 Sherpa) have lent their support to this cause.

The film was dedicated to the planet on Earth Day 2023 and was produced by News18. Jyoti Kumar Bansal, Chief – Brand & Communications at Tata Power, said, “The film effectively showcases how Solar power is lighting up lives across the country and taking ahead India’s vision of clean energy transition.” Sidharth Saini, Senior Vice President at Network 18 Studio, said that the film is an effort to encourage behavior change in terms of sustainability and to inspire viewers to switch to alternative sources of energy.

Tata Power has made great contribution in the field of new energy by undertaking iconic projects such as the vertical solar farm in Bengaluru, carport installation in Pune and Solar powered cricket stadium in Mumbai. With this film, Tata Power hopes to popularize the idea of sustainable lifestyle and further propagate the use of green and clean energy in the country.
