Microsoft's digital assistant, Cortana, is being replaced by Windows Copilot due to its failure to compete with rivals such as Siri and Alexa. Windows Copilot is generative AI-powered, delivering accurate responses to complex queries. Users in select regions can test the tool this month, and it will be available for all later in the year. Microsoft expects Copilot to offer higher capacity and superior performance, making the phasing out of Cortana imminent. Users can still use voice commands for tasks such as setting reminders.

Microsoft is phasing out Cortana, their virtual assistant, from the Windows experience. It will be replaced with Windows Copilot, which offers similar capabilities. Cortana will still be available via the Outlook mobile app and Harman Kardon Invoke speaker.
