Carbon Health has introduced an AI tool, Carby, that uses GPT-4 and Amazon's AWS Transcribe Medical cloud service to generate medical records from physicians' conversations with patients. The tool summarises important information gathered in consultations, enabling clinics to treat more patients. Physicians must verify the AI-generated text, but Carbon Health reports that 88% of the verbiage can be accepted without edits. The model is already supporting over 130 clinics, with a clinic in San Francisco reporting a 30% increase in patients treated. The tool is integrated into the Electronic Health Record system and produces consultation summaries in four minutes, compared to 16 minutes by doctors working alone.
