Research Firm Estimates High Cost of Running ChatGPT

According to a report from SemiAnalysis, the cost of deploying an advanced AI-powered ChatGPT is staggering, which requires 3,617 HGX A100 servers and 28,936 GPUs. Microsoft is working to lower the cost by creating its own AI chips. Additionally, the introduction of GPT-4 model would cost $36 billion in "LLM inference costs". However, the technology witnessed unimaginable growth with 100 millions users in two months of its release.
