AMD Q1 Revenue Decline 9% to $5.35 Billion, Nonetheless Projects Vigorous Second Half

. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported first quarter revenue of $5.35 billion, a 9% decline from a year ago due to the global slowdown in the client PC market. CEO Lisa Su is confident this downturn will turn around in the second half of the year and she reports that the client market will improve, as China shows signs of recovery. For the first quarter, AMD's earnings per share exceeded analyst expectations, and the company expects second quarter revenue of $5.3 billion. AMD's key segments, including gaming and the data center, experienced a mix of growths and declines, with the client market taking the biggest hit. Nonetheless, CEO Su looks to the future with optimism, expecting an increase in demand for AI processing chips.
