Meta, a social media platform owned by Facebook, has reported a surge of malicious activity on the ChatGPT platform. This computer malware is taking advantage of the public's interest in the popular ChatGPT automated chatbot, resembling cryptocurrency scams. Security experts found & blocked over 10 different malware families and more than 1000 malicious links. Several malicious applications featured functioning ChatGPT technology, but included malicious files. Meta's CISO, Guy Rosen, noted that ChatGPT is the "new cryptocurrency" for bad actors. He further highlighted the potential for AI tools, such as ChatGPT, in disinformation campaigns.
