Accounting Still Not Possible for ChatGPT: Human Superiority Confirmed

OpenAI's ChatGPT introduced an AI chatbot which uses machine learning to generate natural language, passing the bar exam, 13 out of 15 AP exams, and the GRE Verbal exam with great scores. Recently, researchers and 186 universities tested the original version, ChatGPT, in accounting exams and published the results in Issues in Accounting Education. ChatGPT scored 47.4% and even though it outperformed humans with true/false and multiple choice questions, there was difficulty with higher order questions. Even so, it's clear that AI technology can revolutionize education.

OpenAI, a company founded by AI pioneers like Elon Musk and Sam Altman just released GPT-4, the latest AI chatbot, to the market. A study at BYU found out that this bot had the potential to revolutionize learning and teaching, as it was capable of performing surprisingly on accounting exams. With 327 contributors providing 25,181 questions, the AI researcher scored 47.4%, outperforming humans in true/false and multiple-choice questions. OpenAI is still enhancing GPT-4 which may result in complex results in the near future.
