Amazon has acquired Snackable AI, a startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for audio processing. Snackable simplifies the process of discovering important parts of audio clips without having to listen to the whole thing, using AI to scan and create 'chapters, highlights and more'. The company was founded by Corinne Reichert who has since moved to work for Amazon. It is a key element of Amazon Music's AI lineup, with the Snackable CEO setting up products for the music streaming service. Following an internal data leak in April of 2023, Samsung, a technology giant, imposed a temporary ban on generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Bing. Potential malicious actors could access confidential information, so Samsung is now taking steps to create its own AI technology to ensure safety. Cyber security experts at Deep Instinct point to human error in the misuse of the technology, combined with the access to large datasets of sensitive data, as the root of this data breach. Samsung has yet to create its own AI technology and must enforce new security policies & "Acceptable Use Policy" to protect its systems.

OpenAI, founded in 2018 by Elon Musk, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, is a San Francisco-based research laboratory. With the development of sophisticated AI technology, data protection issues have become increasingly important. OpenAI responded to the block imposed by the Italian Data Protection Authority, Garante, at the end of March by introducing greater transparency and opt-out for users in the EU. More recently, EU Parliament's AI Act has been concluded, which means generative AI systems such as ChatGPT will be examined on a case-by-case basis, with additional guidelines on data quality and cyber security. Private AI and Microsoft are also exploring ways to make GPT language models privacy-friendly.
