According to the seventh edition of the Setapp survey of Mac developers, ChatGPT is becoming the top choice among Mac app developers. With twice the number of respondents compared to 2022, the survey indicates that 60% of developers are keen to use third-party app stores for iOS apps.
37 countries participated in the survey, however games weren’t a major focus with only 6% of developers working on the said sector. In terms of Mac app store distribution, the survey reported that 44% of Mac developers only distribute via Apple’s Mac App Store, while 28% opt for both the App store and other alternative options.
On the other hand, six-seven percent of the revenue comes from Apple’s Mac App Store, 14% or more developers find distributing via the App Store worth the money. Additionally, artificial intelligence and Machine Learning are being adopted by Mac developers with a total of 44% using these technologies, out of which 38% are being used to make an enhanced personalized user experience.
In regards to the usage of ChatGPT, the survey reports that the majority of the Mac developers, i.e. 80%, are integrating this tool in their apps. 39% are already using it, 21% are researching it and 20% are in the development stage.
