Student Cheats on English Assignment Using ChatGPT, Gets Caught With One Line!

Date:

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has become the hottest tool for students worldwide to get their homework done. The artificial intelligence-driven chatbot that has amazed users with its conversational skills is becoming a menace for teachers worldwide.

Several pupils have been caught plagiarising from the bot. Recently, a Twitter user shared how his relative was caught using ChatGPT to do his English homework. The seventh-grader had made a silly mistake and forgot to remove a line before submitting his homework, which was caught by his teacher.

The user shared an image of the bot’s response to the homework question, which contained the word poignant. The teacher had flagged this because pupils in seventh grade usually do not use such complex language.

As news of the incident spread on social media, users started to share their thoughts on the matter. Some suggested that pupils should use the bot as a supplement rather than a replacement to their own work.

One user also pointed out that teachers have become vigilant and can easily spot a careless copy-and-paste job. Another user called for changes to the educational system, highlighting that pupils should be taught to be creative and come up with their ideas rather than copying them from bots.

ChatGPT is one of OpenAI’s most successful consumer products to date, and with its ever-increasing popularity, it is no doubt causing a headache for teachers worldwide. It remains to be seen whether pupils can resist the temptation of using the bot to cheat on their homework.
