South Korean President Moon Jae-in recently met with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, to discuss the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential for future advancement. Moon expressed his admiration for the work of OpenAI and praised Altman for his contributions to the field of AI.
Altman suggested that South Korea, a world leader in the use of AI chatbots, could further enhance the technology by producing advanced memory chips that power the bots. With two of the largest memory chip manufacturers in the world, Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, South Korea has the potential to play a significant role in developing ChatGPT technology.
Altman also called for the reduction of regulations on AI products and services in South Korea and the participation of the country in the creation of international standards. Yoon agreed with Altman’s call for the establishment of global standards to prevent potential negative side effects associated with ChatGPT.
Moon expressed his support for these initiatives, noting that South Korea has already been working towards the development of AI technology. The President stated that his government will continue to support AI research and development in the country.
The use of AI technology has become increasingly prevalent in various industries and is expected to continue to grow in the future. The collaboration between OpenAI and South Korea has the potential to contribute to the further advancement of this technology.
