The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization behind the layer-1 blockchain Solana, is introducing AI into its network with the launch of the ChatGPT plug-in. Developed by Solana Labs, the ChatGPT plug-in is geared toward end users initially, providing them with an easier way to access the web3 space. It can be used to buy and list NFTs, transfer tokens, check out transactions, interpret data, and find NFT collections by floor price.
The ChatGPT plug-in is designed to interact with an RPC node that reads data from multiple sources on-chain, and disseminates that information to users who ask questions regarding NFT collections, the SOL tokens in their account, and more. This integration offers a new way for Solana users and developers to understand blockchain operations and make the process simpler.
In order to further drive AI adoption within the Solana ecosystem, the company has also announced an AI Accelerator Program targeted at university-level students. Additionally, a grant program for AI-focused projects has been expanded from $1 million to $10 million. Thus far, over 50 applications for grants have been submitted, and several companies have already been awarded.
The Solana Foundation is led by Tal Tchwella, Head of Product at Solana Labs, who is committed to making the blockchain space more user-friendly and less technical. Through the use of the ChatGPT plug-in, users have an easier way to interact with the blockchain and understand what’s happening without needing to read lengthy documents. Ultimately, Solana is hoping that the ChatGPT integration and its AI-focused programs will drive innovation in its network.
