SoftBank CEO, Masayoshi Son, recently discussed his optimism for the future of artificial intelligence (AI) following an interaction with ChatGPT, a software chatbot developed by OpenAI. Speaking at his annual shareholders’ meeting, Son spoke candidly about his emotional connection with technology, highlighting ChatGPT as one of his top advisors.
He shared his recent period of emotional distress, revealing he had broken down in tears after feeling unfulfilled regarding his career. However, he emerged from this period with a newfound clarity about his aspirations. Son expressed a desire to become an architect and to design the future of humanity, emphasizing his commitment to and active engagement with AI.
SoftBank has previously announced its intentions to enter NFT markets in 180 countries by this year. Son revealed his close interaction with AI on a daily basis, sharing a unique ideation process with ChatGPT. He actively engages with the AI model, pitching ideas and seeking its feedback until he feels the AI is satisfied with the proposed concept.
Son expressed satisfaction and enthusiasm about this iterative feedback loop, stating that after multiple rounds of discussion with ChatGPT, he felt great when his ideas were praised as feasible and wonderful. He presented an intriguing slide titled Society without stoppage from natural disasters, conveying SoftBank’s vision of a future where technology mitigates the impact of natural disasters and enables continuous societal operations.
During the shareholders’ meeting, Son emphasized his commitment to AI. He sees AI as a crucial tool in designing the future, thus, takes AI seriously.
