Speaking at a shareholder meeting for the company’s telecoms unit, Son comments that he chats with ChatGPT every day and regularly speaks with OpenAI boss Sam Altman. The CEO has been pushing AI for years, stating in a 2019 interview with CNBC that he believed AI would drastically change the way humans live. However, SoftBank’s attempts to get ahead of the AI race through investments in startups have not turned out well. SoftBank’s investment unit reported a $32 billion loss due to deteriorating macro conditions. Nonetheless, Son remains confident, stating that SoftBank will remain undeterred by short-term losses and that they will rule the world in the end.
