Snowflake Enhances Cloud Data Management Solution with Intelligent Search by Acquiring Neeva

Date:

Snowflake, a revolutionary cloud data management tool, has acquired Neeva, a startup created by two former Google employees, to further enhance its intelligent search capabilities. Neeva was initially created to provide an ad-free search option, as well as a secure search environment for consumers. Its technologies will now be put to use in the enterprise setting.

Beneoit Dageville, VP of products at Snowflake, spoke about the big move and how the two companies fit together organically. He pointed out that providing teams the ability to easily find the right data is essential to maximizing the value of data-driven strategies. With the help of Neeva’s Generative AI search technology, Snowflake can offer users an efficient and interactive way to search data in the cloud.

Prior to the acquisition, Neeva had been working on Gist, an individual Generative AI search app designed to guide users through precise and specific searches for the answers they need. Unfortunately, the consumer search had to be shut down with the announcement of its enterprise transition – but the technology lives on with this new partnership.

The two founders of Neeva – Siva Kumaran and Vivek Raghunathan, bring years of Google experience to the Snowflake team. They both have a history of successful creations and investments in both consumer and enterprise search technologies, with total investments from venture capitalists such as Sequoia and Greylock totaling over $77 million.

Now as part of the Snowflake family, Neeva’s pioneering technology and creativity will continue to develop as they build powerful and intelligent search solutions. The acquisition enables Snowflake to extend its capabilities to maximize data-driven strategies. This cutting-edge combination of Cloud data management and AI search tools will help users find new insights quickly and easily to improve their data-driven decisions.
