Snapchat introduces ‘My AI Snaps’ generative AI feature for paid subscribers

Date:

Snapchat has launched a new generative AI feature called My AI Snaps that allows its subscribers to send Snaps of themselves doing something and receive a generative Snap back from its in-app chatbot, My AI. The feature has been made available to all users and was previously previewed at last month’s Snap Partner Summit. Other AI-infused updates made by Snap to Snapchat include the ability to use AI for place recommendations and Lens suggestions, and adding the My AI chatbot to group chats. However, the new feature has no real value beyond entertainment purposes and could raise privacy and security concerns for parents of teens using the app.

Snapchat, the popular social media app, was launched in 2011 by Evan Spiegel, Reggie Brown, and Bobby Murphy. It allows users to share photos and videos with their friends, family, and followers that are available for a limited time before disappearing. Snapchat has over 280 million monthly active users globally, with a majority of its user base being millennials and Gen Z.

Evan Spiegel is the CEO of Snap Inc., which is the parent company of Snapchat. Spiegel co-founded Snapchat while studying at Stanford University and has been leading the company since its inception. Under his leadership, Snapchat has grown to become one of the most widely used social media apps in the world, with a market capitalization of over $100 billion. Spiegel is known for his innovative approach to social media and is considered one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the world.
