Snapchat has announced some upcoming updates for its iPhone app, which include a brand new “My AI” chatbot feature powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, new features in Stories, Snap Map updates and more.
The “My AI” chatbot has the ability to do a variety of tasks and can be customized to the user’s liking. All Snapchat users can now access this feature, while Snapchat+ subscribers can also access exclusive features, like the ability to get a unique generative Snap back.
Stories users can now add an extra dimension to their Snaps and Chats through the new “After Dark” option, use the new “Flashback” posts in conversations with friends and join Communities, which allow them to share their perspective with classmates.
The Snap Map feature has also been improved with a new “Live Location” tool, similar to Apple’s own Find My platform, which allows users to share real-time locations with each other. Additionally, 3D elements are being added to the Snap Map interface, along with further updates to suggested places and Bitmoji customization.
Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown in 2011 in Los Angeles, and has since become one of the most popular social media apps. It has evolved over the years, constantly adding and removing features as necessary. As seen in this announcement, Snapchat strives to provide users a unique and personalized experience every day.
