Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) recently held its first ChatGPT hackathon, aiming to explore the potential of this AI-powered chatbot to drive innovation in various industries. The event gathered 80 participants from diverse backgrounds, including artists, educators, developers, entrepreneurs, and environmentalists.
The hackathon was part of SEF Bytes, a community-driven initiative that engages people in different topics through byte-sized events to create year-round community touchpoints under the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF).
Under the theme of industry transformation, the hackathon featured five unique tracks that focused on business sectors such as sustainability, education, retail and F&B, creative economy, and travel. With 4-6 teams per track, the competition was fierce to win the top spots.
Participants were given the option to either present an innovative concept or develop a software solution integrating ChatGPT to address industry-specific challenges. The judges evaluated this based on the innovation, creativity, effective utilization of ChatGPT, feasibility, and potential impact on their respective sectors.
The hackathon fostered an atmosphere of collaboration, ideation, and technological breakthroughs. Participants presented their solutions based on their chosen track, displaying a clear problem statement and demonstrating how ChatGPT could address the issue, highlight the potential impact of their solutions in the industry.
The three winners of the hackathon will go on to develop their solutions with Sheraa’s support, all presented innovations in using ChatGPT. SEF Bytes is an excellent initiative to bring inspiration and learning to each event, making it possible to create and explore new business opportunities and achieve industry goals.
Sheraa is delighted with the results of its first ChatGPT hackathon and looks forward to more innovative events and collaborations that create value for the community, industry, and the UAE.
