Authorities from Vishvas News recently organized a Fact Check Workshop in Panchkula to educate senior citizens about the importance of verifying information on social media platforms. The workshop, held on March 31 in Himshikha Colony, Pinjore, was part of the ‘Sach Ke Sathi Seniors’ campaign.
During the workshop, Deputy Editor Devika Mehta discussed the rise of deepfake videos and the use of AI tools to manipulate facial expressions and voices. She emphasized the significance of analyzing sources and detecting counterfeit information to prevent its dissemination.
Jyoti Kumari, Senior Sub Editor, highlighted methods and online tools to identify fake news, encouraging participants to use logical reasoning and official websites for verification. She also cautioned against clicking on suspicious links to prevent financial fraud and advised attendees to become vigilant and informed voters.
The ‘Sach Ke Sathi Seniors’ campaign, with academic partner MICA and collaboration with Google News Initiative (GNI), aims to enhance media literacy among senior citizens through seminars and webinars in various cities across India. To participate in the program, interested individuals can register on the official website www.vishvasnews.com/sach-ke-sathi-seniors/.
By spreading awareness and providing tools to combat misinformation, Vishvas News intends to empower seniors to make informed decisions and differentiate between reliable and unreliable information on the internet.
