Sberbank of Russia Launches GigaChat, Rival to ChatGPT

Date:

On Monday, Russia’s leading lender Sberbank released their advanced artificial intelligence (AI) messenger—GigaChat—during their invite-only trial phase, entering the ongoing chatbot race. Last year, Microsoft-backed OpenAI had launched their chatbot— ChatGPT—jumpstarting other tech giants to develop their own AI-powered chatbot.

In comparison to other chatbot operated by a foreign neural network, GigaChat can communicate in a more advanced manner when it comes to the Russsian language. It is this intriguing distinction that sets GigaChat apart from its competitors. This effort comes in the aftermath of Russia’s highly publicized sanctions, emphasising the country’s eagerness to reduce the foreign dependency they are subjected to.

Sberbank has invested immensely in the tech sector to significantly improve their technology. This recent development is a part of their progress into becoming self-reliant, while also driving the reformation of how people are working, as well as broaden their own business opportunities.

Speaking of Sberbank, it is the largest banks in eastern Europe and holds the position of the 4th largest bank in Europe. Friendly and welcoming, it is no doubt their financial stability, customer service and cutting-edge technology that will continue to drive them.

Leading the development of the chatbot is Alexander Marov, who works as the editor at the Reuters agency. With skills ranging from data collection and analysis to storytelling, Marov has established himself as a well-versed editor, helping to make the Reuters agency a major source for media content around the world.
