Saudi Literature Commission hosts seminar in Seoul Book Fair
RIYADH: The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission organized a seminar at the Seoul International Book Fair 2024 titled The Role of Saudi Arabia in Teaching Arabic in Korea, where Saudi Arabia was the guest of honor.
During the event, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Dayel, the cultural attache at the Saudi embassy, highlighted the historical significance of the Arabic language. He discussed Saudi Arabia’s efforts in promoting Arabic as one of the Semitic languages, with a focus on the language’s diversification into various dialects before the revelation of the Quran in Classical Arabic.
Al-Dayel underscored the Kingdom’s crucial role in recognizing Arabic as an official global language at the United Nations, leading to the establishment of World Arabic Language Day celebrated annually on Dec. 18.
The cultural attache emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to organizing seminars and offering scholarships to promote Arabic learning globally. He also mentioned initiatives like the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, supporting language promotion through various activities.
Overall, the seminar shed light on Saudi Arabia’s significant contribution to language education and promotion, showcasing its dedication to preserving and spreading the Arabic language worldwide.
