SAP to Acquire WalkMe for $1.5B in Move to Boost AI Offerings and IT Transformation

Date:

SAP has announced its plans to acquire WalkMe, an adoption platform specialist, for $1.5 billion. The move aims to enhance SAP’s offerings such as Signavio, LeanIX, and generative AI.

By acquiring WalkMe, SAP is focused on providing better support to end users to help them swiftly adopt new solutions and features for maximum value from their IT investments, according to SAP CEO Christian Klein.

WalkMe, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, assists customers in navigating technology changes by offering advanced guidance and automation features for seamless workflow execution across various applications. Their upcoming WalkMe Copilot will utilize contextual awareness and AI to recommend the best next steps for workflows.

The integration of WalkMe’s adoption capabilities with SAP’s AI copilot Joule is expected to enhance AI assistant and productivity gains for SAP customers. Additionally, unique e-learning features in SAP Enable Now will be combined with WalkMe for a more people-centric transformation approach.

The acquisition of WalkMe is seen as a milestone for both companies, with WalkMe’s CEO, Dan Adika, expressing excitement about leveraging SAP’s ecosystem to unlock growth opportunities and provide more value to customers.

The deal is set to close in the third quarter of 2024, pending regulatory approvals. This strategic move by SAP was revealed during the Sapphire conference in Orlando, Florida, adding a new chapter to the evolving landscape of tech acquisitions.
