Sam Altman is not interested in living on Mars but may send robots there

Date:

OpenAI’s Sam Altman, the CEO of ChatGPT, has stated that he has no desire to live on Mars. At a talk last week at University College London, he discussed the potential of artificial intelligence aiding the establishment of human life on Mars. Altman expressed his preference for sending robots to the Red Planet so that they can prepare it before humans arrive. This opinion is vastly different from that of Elon Musk, his fellow cofounder at OpenAI and the CEO of SpaceX. Musk has famously stated that he wants to send one million people to Mars by 2050 and has contemplated a possible trip himself.

OpenAI is an American artificial intelligence research laboratory consisting of the for-profit corporation OpenAI LP and its parent company, the non-profit OpenAI Inc. OpenAI’s main goal is to promote and develop friendly AI for the betterment of humanity. Initially, OpenAI was created as a non-profit organization in 2015, but in 2020, it formed OpenAI LP, a subsidiary that focuses specifically on creating AI for commercial purposes.

Sam Altman is the CEO of OpenAI. He is an entrepreneur who founded Loopt, a location-based social networking app, and Hydrazine Capital, a venture capital firm. Altman was also the president of startup accelerator Y Combinator from 2016 to 2019.
