Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff revealed in an earnings call that he had a conversation over dinner with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about artificial intelligence (AI). Benioff, who is a neighbor of Altman, said that Altman showed him demonstrations of advanced technologies during their conversation. Although Benioff did not go into detail about the technologies, he did point out that Altman only used the workplace messaging app Slack on his laptop. OpenAI, founded in 2015, released the popular generative AI chatbot ChatGPT last year. Salesforce acquired Slack in 2021 and has recently integrated ChatGPT into the app, allowing users to summarize conversations, draft messages, and research tools.
