Russian Defense Minister Belousov underscores the importance of advanced technology in military conflicts, specifically focusing on artificial intelligence, robots, and drones. He believes that these elements are crucial for Moscow’s success in its ongoing confrontation with the West, particularly in light of the invasion of Ukraine.
Belousov highlighted four key conditions for victory in modern military conflicts, including advanced weaponry, personnel training, effective management systems utilizing technological frameworks like AI, and new tactical methods incorporating drones and robotic systems. He emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive approach to gain an advantage over the enemy.
The Defense Minister also reiterated Russia’s position that the invasion of Ukraine was a response to the United States and its allies’ efforts to maintain dominance and prevent the establishment of a new world order. These remarks were made during the opening of Russia’s prominent military forum, Army-2024, held annually outside Moscow.
Belousov’s predecessor, Sergei Shoigu, who is now the head of Russia’s Security Council, used the previous year’s forum to assert Russia’s military superiority over Ukraine and Western allies. However, he was subsequently dismissed by President Putin in May. Overall, the focus on advanced technology and strategic military capabilities remains a central tenet of Russia’s approach to conflicts with the West.
