Amidst the global tensions between the West and Russia, Sberbank, Russia’s largest banking institution, has announced its ambitious plans to launch a new chatbot called GigaChat. Developed using advanced generative artificial intelligence, GigaChat is designed to make high-level communication in Russian possible – something that the competing chatbot ChatGTP lacks.
Sberbank has a long history in Russian banking, manageing nearly one-third of the nation’s financial assets. Owned by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, it offers a degree of proximity to political power in the Kremlin.
What sets GigaChat apart from other chatbots is its ability to communicate in the Russian language without any outside help or support. This launch could further cement Russia’s power and presence on the international scene, as it is closely following in the footsteps of China’s Xiaomingbot, another chatbot developed with the same purpose in mind.
Business development expert Prof. Daniel W is quoted mentioning the importance of this launch for Russia’s capabilities as an AI power. It will become an important milestone in Russian technological development, showing off the country’s potential in this field – something that the outside world is keeping a keen eye on.
Currently, GigaChat is still in the testing phase, and the public can only access it by invitation. However, this project represents an exciting new opportunity for Russia to demonstrate its emergence as a leader in artificial intelligence.
