At the RSA Conference 2023, executives from around the world gathered in San Francisco on July 11-12 to discuss the incorporation and optimization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) investments to promote success. CISOs have a goal to maximize efficacy, real-time data visibility, and a unified view of endpoints, identities, and assets across their networks, all while staying within their set budget. Some new announcements made at RSAC 2023 included initiatives highlighting the importance of strong alliances and partnerships. One example includes CrowdStrike and Google Workspace creating a native cloud-to-endpoint security solution for ChromeOS.
The theme of the conference was Stronger Together, where multiple vendors gathered to consolidate their tech stack, creating shared systems and improving APIs that address the needs of CISOs. Among the vendors present was Accenture, who collaborated with Palo Alto Networks to produce a secure access service edge (SASE) solution, embedding AI-powered Prisma SASE to increase cyber-resilience and accelerate business transformation. Another vendor, Absolute Software, released the Application Persistence-as-a-Service (APaaS) Ecosystem, which uses its embedded Absolute Persistence platform in 600 million PCs to undeletably tether every device and offer greater application resilience.
Other speakers like Vasu Jakkal of Microsoft and Jeetu Patel of Cisco also discussed the use of AI in data protection and cybersecurity. Jakkal mentioned during her keynote how the average defender must now handle 70 tools and it requires AI to counter the speed and complexity of threats. Patel stated that to fight threats, organizations must utilize cross-domain native boundary, which is crucial to machine learning and AI models. The aim is to detect anomalies and apply automated controls to detect breaches and respond to them.
Next DLP is one example of a company utilizing AI to reduce manual analytics for data loss prevention. CEO Connie Stack mentioned how AI-machine learning are used to monitor user behavior and detect anomalies in a company’s data, dynamically alerting teams to threats and enabling organizations to take proactive measures to protect sensitive data and secure devices. All of these initiatives prove the importance of AI in advancing cybersecurity.
