Roll utilizing generative AI for recreating dolly shots and other cinematic effects

Date:

Faizan Buzdar, the former VP of product management at Box, has launched a new app called Roll, which aims to disrupt high-quality video production. Roll employs innovative AI-based tools to recreate video effects such as dollies and jibs and allows users to create videos with effectively multi-camera perspectives. The app uses generative AI to simulate movements like panning from side-to-side, and it can create 3D spaces to facilitate virtual cameras. Roll has two apps: a phone app to capture and record video, and a web app that allows users to edit footage. Roll is aimed at the prosumer market, including influencers, podcasters, and businesses. Roll generates revenue by charging in-house corporate marketing and video teams.
